Need scratch removal near you? Atelier Car Care uses professional machine polishing to safely reduce or remove light scratches, swirl marks and other clear coat defects across Stamford, Cambridge, Peterborough and Rutland — with concours-level technique honed at Salon Prive and Retromobile Paris. Professional scratch removal from £350 — Salon Prive technique applied on-site.
Light scratches and swirl marks sit within the clear coat layer of your paintwork. Machine polishing uses controlled abrasion with specialist compounds and pads to level the surrounding clear coat, effectively making the scratch disappear or significantly reducing its visibility.
Our Single Stage Enhancement at £350 addresses up to 80 percent of light scratches and swirl marks. For deeper or more widespread defects, our Double Stage Enhancement at £500 tackles 95 to 99 percent. Both include full decontamination and ceramic coating to protect the corrected finish. We assess every vehicle before quoting to set realistic expectations about what can and cannot be achieved through polishing alone — honest advice is worth more than overpromising.
We cover Stamford, Peterborough, Cambridge and Rutland as our core service areas, plus the wider East Anglia region. Andrea ForsythScratches that sit within the clear coat can typically be reduced or removed through machine polishing. Deeper scratches that have penetrated through to the base coat or primer require paint repair rather than correction.
We examine the scratch under controlled lighting and test with a fingernail. If your nail catches in the scratch, it has likely penetrated beyond the clear coat and may need paint repair. If it does not catch, machine polishing can usually address it.
No. We use professional equipment and technique to remove only the minimum clear coat necessary. Paint depth readings can be taken to ensure safe correction levels.
Typically 2-5 microns from a healthy clear coat of around 60-80 microns. A single-stage correction uses less; double-stage uses more. We always work conservatively — clear coat cannot be replaced.
Sometimes. Light keyed scratches that have not penetrated through the clear coat can often be reduced or removed. Deeper keyed damage that has exposed the base coat or primer needs paint repair, not polishing.
The correction itself is permanent — removed scratches do not return. New scratches can occur from contact or improper washing. Applying ceramic coating and using safe wash methods prevents new damage and preserves the corrected finish.
