New Car Detailing

Collecting a new car is one of the most satisfying moments in ownership. But the paint that arrives with it is rarely in the condition you assume. Transport, storage, dealer preparation and silicone-heavy dressings often leave swirls and contamination before you have driven a mile. We put that right and protect the paint properly from the outset.

Why new cars benefit from detailing before you drive

A car that is new to you is not necessarily new in condition. By the time it reaches your driveway it has likely been transported, stored on a compound, moved multiple times and "prepared" by dealership valet staff using whatever process they follow that week.

Dealer preparation often involves a rotary machine applied with too much pressure or a cheap compound, covering light scratches and swirls beneath a thick layer of silicone gloss. This hides the paint condition just long enough to get through the handover. Once you wash the car a few times and the gloss strips away, the real paint state becomes visible.

New car detailing corrects this before you are invested in the current condition. We decontaminate the paint thoroughly — removing bonded iron fallout and transport grime — then inspect under lighting to find any swirling or handling damage. From there we either enhance the paint with a single-stage polish or proceed directly to protection, depending on what we find. The result is paint that is genuinely clean, corrected where needed, and protected to a standard that will last.

When to book

The best time to book a new car detail is before you collect — or within the first few days of ownership, before you wash the car and before dealer dressings fully cure. The earlier we can assess the paint, the cleaner the base we have to work from.

Taking delivery of a new car? Book a detail before or just after collection — we will set the paint up right from day one.

Common questions

Does a new car really need detailing?

More often than you might expect, yes. New cars arrive at dealerships having been transported on car-carrying lorries, stored on compounds exposed to the elements, and "prepared" by valet staff who frequently use rotary machines or poor technique that installs light swirls before the car has even turned a wheel. Dealership pre-delivery often involves heavy silicone-based dressings that mask paint condition. We cut through that, assess the actual paint state and protect it properly.

What does a new car detail involve?

We start with a thorough decontamination — safe wash, iron fallout treatment and clay bar or decontamination media to remove bonded contamination that accumulated during transport and storage. We then inspect the paint under controlled lighting to assess swirls, holograms or handling marks. Depending on what we find, we either proceed to protection directly or carry out a single-stage enhancement polish first. Protection is then applied as a quality wax, sealant or ceramic coating based on your preferences and budget.

Should I get my new car detailed before or after the dealership prepares it?

Ideally before you have driven it off the forecourt — or at minimum, before any dealership polish or prep. If you can collect the car unpolished and bring it directly to us, we get the cleanest possible base to work from. If the dealer has already processed it, we can still assess and correct, but the process starts with understanding what has already been applied.

What protection do you recommend for a new car?

Ceramic coating is the most durable option for a car you want to maintain in excellent condition long-term. It provides genuine chemical and UV resistance, makes routine cleaning much easier and — applied correctly on properly prepared paint — can last several years. If you prefer a simpler approach, a quality paint sealant or carnauba wax still offers meaningful protection and can be reapplied more easily over time.

Do you offer new car detailing as a mobile service?

Yes. We come to your home or workplace across Stamford, Peterborough, Cambridge and Rutland. For new car work with ceramic coating, we prefer a sheltered environment — a garage or covered space is ideal — and we will advise if any specific setup is needed when you enquire.
