"Booked a full detail before selling my car and the finish was outstanding. Paint looked sharper and the interior felt brand new."
James S. — Audi A4 AvantPaint Correction Service
Restore clarity and depth by safely reducing swirl marks, wash marring and many surface defects. We work methodically with measured paint assessment, appropriate pad and polish combinations, and refinement steps so the finish looks crisp — not chalky or over-buffed.
Measured polishing, not guesswork
Correction is where experience matters most. The goal is maximum safe improvement: fewer defects, higher gloss and more uniform reflections, while respecting factory clearcoat and any previous work the car has had.
We start with proper cleaning and decontamination so we are not grinding bonded grit into the paint. Panels are assessed for hardness, texture and risk areas, then polished in sequences that balance cut and finish. When correction is complete, we can move straight into protection — many clients pair this work with our ceramic coating service so the refined finish stays easier to maintain.
Choose the right level of correction
Defects we commonly improve
Wash-induced swirl marks, light marring from poor drying, oxidation dullness and many fine scratches in the upper clearcoat layer are typical candidates for correction. Holograms from previous poor polishing can often be dialled out with careful refinement.
We will always tell you plainly when something is better suited to smart repair, touch-in or PPF rather than aggressive polishing. The aim is a finish you are proud of, with paint that still has sensible thickness remaining for the future.
Process principles
- Inspect paint under controlled lighting before machines start
- Decontaminate so polishing is not pushing bonded contamination
- Test spots to match polish, pad and machine speed to the paint system
- Refine down to restore gloss without unnecessary clearcoat removal
- Optional LSP or ceramic so the finish stays protected

Common questions
What is paint correction?
Paint correction is controlled machine polishing that removes or reduces a thin layer of clearcoat where defects live, improving gloss and clarity. It is not a cover-up — results depend on paint thickness, defect depth and how safely we can work within sensible clearcoat limits.
Single stage versus multi-stage correction — what is the difference?
A single stage enhancement typically removes lighter marring and boosts gloss in one polishing sequence. Multi-stage correction adds cutting and refining steps for heavier swirling, sanding marks or deeper defects, then finishes down for clarity before protection.
Will correction remove every scratch?
Not always. Defects through the clearcoat, deep keying or poor previous repairs may not be fully removable. We inspect paint and set expectations before starting, prioritising safe removal over chasing perfection at the cost of long-term paint health.
How long does correction take on site?
Enhancements may take a few hours on smaller cars in good condition. Heavier correction can take a full day or multiple days depending on size, complexity and whether coating is applied afterwards.
Should I add ceramic coating after correction?
Often yes. Freshly corrected paint benefits from a durable sacrificial layer. We can quote ceramic coating as a follow-on using the same prep standards described on our dedicated ceramic coating service page.
