A safe wash uses a pre-wash stage to remove loose dirt, fresh clean water, a two-bucket method and quality wash mitts. pH-neutral shampoo is used throughout. The aim is to clean effectively without introducing new defects.
Is a professional wash worth the extra cost?
Yes. The small additional cost of a professional safe wash protects your paintwork, maintains your vehicle's appearance and preserves its resale value. Repairing swirl mark damage from bad washes costs significantly more — typically £350+ for paint correction.
How can I tell if my hand car wash has damaged my paint?
Look at your bonnet or roof in direct sunlight. If you see fine circular scratches or 'spider web' patterns, those are swirl marks — typically caused by poor washing technique. The damage is in the clear coat and requires machine polishing to remove.
